S. CRAIG LEMASTERS
President and Chief Executive Officer
Assurant Solutions
S. Craig Lemasters is president and chief executive officer of the Assurant Solutions business of Assurant, Inc. He was named to his current position in June 2005. He also serves as a member of the Assurant Management Committee. From September 2003 until his 2005 promotion, Mr. Lemasters served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Solutions consumer protection business.
The business now known as Assurant Solutions was created in August 1999 after Fortis, a Dutch-Belgian financial services company, acquired American Bankers Insurance Group, Inc., Miami, Fla., and merged it with the operations of American Security Group, Atlanta, Ga. Assurant was created in February 2004 after Fortis divested majority ownership of its U.S. insurance operations through an IPO.
Mr. Lemasters has more than 20 years experience in senior leadership positions with the Assurant and American Bankers organizations. Between 1987 and 1998, he served as a channel executive and marketing manager for various American Bankers businesses at its Miami, Fla., headquarters. After two years as an executive vice president and chief marketing officer with Reliance Integramark, Alpharetta, GA, he rejoined Assurant in August 2000 as group senior vice president International. In June 2001, he was promoted to executive vice president and chief marketing officer with management responsibility for the sales and marketing, administrative functions, operations, claims and consumer marketing services for the Diversified Financial Services, Personal Property Protection, Automotive and Recreational Vehicle Services and international business units.
Mr. Lemasters has a bachelor's degree in economics and business administration from Furman University and a master's degree in business administration from Barry University. He resides with his family in Atlanta.
